DLT New Guidelines in 16th Feb 2023

This is to update you about a new Regulatory Direction issued by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), on 16th Feb 2023, regarding measures to Curb misuse of Headers and Content Templates under Telecom Commercial Communication Customer Preference Regulation, 2018.

This Direction has a significant impact on the ways you have been managing your commercial communication on the DLT platform and across telecom networks. We request you to kindly go through these Directions thoroughly and appropriate action to continue interacting with your customers seamlessly.
  • Reverify all your Headers registered on the DLT platform. Release/surrender the headers that are not in use. Headers not validated will be deactivated.
  • Re validate all your content templates registered on the DLT platform. Templates not validated by 31st March 2023 will be deactivated.
  • Separate communication will be sent on details of Re-Verification process and timelines.
  • All content templates can have only 2 variables. The variables cannot be in a continuous format.
  • Effective 1st March 2023, any content template request with more than 2 variables will not be approved and existing templates which do not adhere to the 'variable' format as per these Directions will also be deactivated by 31st March 2023.
