Important regulatory update mandated by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). Which is expected to be implemented across all telecom operators starting tentatively from 6th May 2025.
• Introduction of an Identifier: All A2P SMS messages will include a new identifier suffix (-P,-S,-T,-G)
• Template-Based Identifier Generation: The identifier will be generated based on the specific type of content template used.
• Suffix Inclusion in Header/CLI: This identifier will appear as a suffix in the SMS Header.
It is recommended that the Header structure not only identify the sender but also clearly indicate the type of message. To achieve this, Access Providers should suffix the Header with "-P" for promotional, "-S" for service, "-T" for transactional, and "-G" for government-related communications.
All Operators will append the suffix on the basis of template type which will be in response of the DLT scrubbing. Only TRAI exempted headers will be treated as Govt category and -G will be append in that case.
